Elleray Park School
Children aged 2-11 with SLD / CLD /PMLD
Elleray Park School has been judged as outstanding by Ofsted on our previous two inspections. It has specialist expertise to meet the needs of pupils on the autistic spectrum, pupils with complex learning difficulties and those who have profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school is accredited by the National Autistic Society and within the field of Autism has received commendations for the excellent provision offered. This provision is highly regarded by all services and most importantly by parents. The environment is adapted to meet the needs of those pupils and a small highly structured environment is provided for those who require it. Our discrete provision offers a class size of four pupils to three members of staff. However, many of our pupils with a diagnosis benefit from a slightly larger, more vibrant environment and this too is offered. The school also offers outstanding education for those pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The provision demonstrates a clear vision of excellence and promotes a strong pedagogical basis for teaching and learning of pupils with PMLD. The school very effectively offers an inclusive education and this rich social milieu contributes to the development of all children. Those pupils that require a separate specialist provision are offered it, whilst being part of the whole Elleray Park community. The environment for this group of pupils is designed to ensure that optimum learning takes place. The school is strongly committed to offering all pupils an extensive range of opportunities. Elleray Park has a Foundation and a Year 1/ 2 Resource base in Egremont Primary School. When appropriate the pupils from Elleray Park are fully included in the mainstream primary provision and supported by the expertise of our own school staff. In addition, the school has links with a range of other primary schools across the Local Authority that provide valuable inclusive opportunities for its pupils. These ensure that pupils can maintain links with their local primary school and develop a network of friends from their local community. Residential opportunities are a very important part of the ethos of the school. Elleray Park provides these opportunities both within the UK and also on an international basis. It has strong links with schools in other countries and pupils have taken part in residential visits to Germany, Turkey and Poland. The pupils are currently working on projects with pupils in India and Kenya, sharing work and experiences. Elleray Park believes that education is a partnership and values parental input. Parental support and training are a positive feature of the school. The excellent partnership formed with parents and carers focuses firmly on supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development. This gives each child a firm foundation for their future achievement. The school is excellently equipped with a hydrotherapy pool, soft play, sensory room and extensive outdoor learning environments.
