Charing Cross Open Access Playscheme
Suitable for all children and young people
Minimum Age: 6
Maximum Age: 14
Playschemes operate an open access policy which means your child is free to come and go as he/she chooses. The playworkers can take no responsibility for children who leave the centre or playground during a session.
Most activities are free of charge and all children attending a play scheme are required to complete a confidential registration form which provides the individual details needed to support your child whilst attending the play scheme. All staff are suitably qualified and have an enhanced CRB check.
In each open access play centre, children can engage in freely chosen play opportunities, which help them to develop a sense of ownership, whilst respecting the rights of others who use the same play space. Playschemes offer a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, free play, and access to outdoor play space. Children will be actively encouraged to contribute their ideas. Playworkers endeavour to support, rather than direct the children, to facilitate a play environment based on children’s wants and developmental needs, which stimulates their creativity whilst maximising their potential. Children also have the opportunity to take risks using the ‘safety net’ of playworkers who support, tolerance, openness and possibility.
