The Local Offer asked whether children who don’t attend Hilbre can attend and how equipped they are to meet the needs of our SEND children and young people. Here’s their re-assuring reply:

“We welcome all children, from the local community and beyond and certainly not just Hilbre students. In fact many of our current attendees travel from various parts of the Wirral to attend, including Moreton, Birkenhead, Seacombe and Heswall. We pride ourselves on the inclusive environment we work so hard to create and offer. We currently welcome several ASD children and work within wonderful partnerships with their parents to achieve a safe, enriching and inclusive environment for them. Our provision delivers with a real focus on developing the social & emotional attributes of all children; whether overcoming SEND or not. We try to promote the everyday traits required and expected in everyday living later on in life. Focus on these attributes are often magnified when delivering to children with SEND to overcome. Not forgetting that we are, in our simplest form, a sports coaching school holiday provision, whereby some parents I’m sure inevitably use our service for the added benefit of caring for their children during school holiday, we absolutely pride ourselves for going above and beyond what would be the normal standard of many like-for-like sports coaching companies. What makes us different is quality always prevails over quantity in terms of enrolment. What gives us the added quality is the support and inclusivity we provide many children overcoming SEND. I’ve already mentioned that we already welcome several regular ASD children to our provision and work closely with their parents to meet their needs. We offer quiet spaces required if triggers are indeed triggered. Whilst parents know our provision isn’t marketed as a SEND specific provision and as such we do not specifically cater for one-to-one we do ensure children with MLD and ASD children are given the more concentrated focus required. ASD children will get one-to-one supervision from the Head Coach if suffering from a trigger of course. We also have children overcoming physical disability. To support them and all children with SEND we use our professional planning and delivery to make differentiation adjustments to each and every activity in order to ensure all children achieve success beyond the constraints of SEND.We have also gone the extra mile with regards to inclusion and 3 of our coaching team have completed a good practice in autism course. The biggest support we give to all children with SEND is to make them feel equal. An important part of a bigger group and we find that this dynamic is invaluable as playing/working alongside non SEND peers gives them the truest exposure to life in general society beyond their childhood.”
