A massive thank you to the Parents and Carers who joined us for the Wirral Co-production Opportunities Event earlier today at the Lauries Centre in Birkenhead– it was so lovely to see so many of you there and the positive mood in the room led to some fantastic conversations and offers of support.

We are so grateful to you for taking the time out to learn more about how you can get involved with some really important projects. We’ve received some encouraging feedback from attendees and we hear loud and clear that you’d like more of these opportunities to get together. It was great to share with you the work already underway to improve the way we co-produce and we’re really pleased you like the simplified definition of what co-production means to us.

“Children, young people, parents, carers and services work together as equals to make a change from the beginning.

Being equal means that everybody’s experiences, voices and ideas have the same value.

All partners work together to identify what needs to change or be developed and how it should be done.”

Thanks too for your positive thoughts on the newly refreshed Co-production Charter and the one page takeaway.

To capture the discussions in the room at this first Parent and Carer Co-production event we arranged for an illustrator to produce a drawing that summed up everyone’s involvement and contribution to date. The end result is fab!

Parent Carer Participation Wirral (PCPW) Wirral’s Parent Carer forum and our SEND Youth Voice group have already invested a great deal of time and energy into helping us with the definition, refreshed charter and a co-designed training package which is mandatory for all staff and included in new staff induction. Thank you very much!

Today we progressed conversations around four key topics:

All Age Disability, Commissioning, the Local Offer website and Quality Assurance.

If you were unable to attend today but would like to register your interest in any of these areas, please e mail [email protected] and Chloe will make sure we get the information to you.
